Well, it actually originated from an ancient Taoist concept and while ‘yang’ or Hatha yoga focuses on the muscles and is a more dynamic form of yoga, Yin Yoga is slower paced and targets deeper, connective tissues like ligaments, joints and bones.
Yin Yoga also helps connect the body and mind and is more of a meditative practice, where the poses, or asanas, are held for longer.
The practise is based upon The Chinese Medicine Tradition (TCM). I did all my Yin Training with Norman Blair and Kate Henley who is an Acupuncturist and my TCM Supervisor.
